DIALux Co-Creation Space @ Light+Building 2026

Our goal for Light+Building was clear from the outset: we didn’t want to build a traditional exhibition stand. Instead, we wanted to create a space where genuine conversations could take place: a DIALux Co-Creation Space.
A space where you, as lighting designers, together with manufacturers, architects and our development team, can discuss your challenges and requirements in the lighting design process. Because good software isn’t created in isolation; it’s created through dialogue with the people who use it every day.
The focal point of the DIALux Co-Creation Space: you
With the Challenge Wall, we therefore wanted to know one thing above all else: what challenges do you face in the lighting design process? So we asked exactly that question and invited you to share your biggest challenges from your day-to-day design work with us. Our visual facilitator Mathias Weitbrecht recorded your answers live and, step by step, transformed them into a visual collection of experiences, questions and ideas.

With every conversation, every new thought and every perspective, the wall grew a little further. It soon became clear that many challenges are similar, regardless of whether you come from a design consultancy, an architectural practice or a manufacturer. Many of you shared specific experiences from your day-to-day work:
- Projects where certain tools are missing.
- Workflows that are too complicated or too time-consuming.
- Ideas on how planning could work more simply and efficiently in the future.
It is precisely these conversations that are the most valuable part of a trade fair for us.
Because they show us how we can further develop DIALux to better serve you.
Insightful discussions on current topics: IALD Discovery Discussions
Throughout the week, in collaboration with the IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers), you were also able to experience interesting insights and panel discussions on current topics shaping the industry.
Leela Shanker shared her insights on Embodied Carbon and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), whilst Dwanyne Waggoner moderated a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of lighting design education. Riddhi Bhootda presented her vision of Architainment and the role of dynamic lighting. Flynn Talbot provided an insight into the use of AI in the lighting design process, and we spoke with Maria Toro-Ortiz about lighting certification and credentials. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the speakers once again for the valuable discussions and insights.

Thank you for your input
A big thank you to everyone who dropped by, shared their experiences or left a thought on our Challenge Wall. By the end of the week, it wasn’t just a collection of challenges. It was a snapshot of what’s currently driving the industry. And that’s exactly what we’re now building on. Your feedback, your perspectives and your experiences form the basis for how DIALux will continue to develop in the future.
